The Role of Self-Confidence in Moderating the Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Accountant Career Development: INDONESIAN Evidence

The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of self-confidence in moderating emotional intelligence towards carrier development of accountants. Participants of the study are accountants who work in the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi. The selection of sample method has been based on convenience sampling. The respondents in this study consist of 144 accountants in the positions as Accountant Staff, Manager Assistant/Supervisor, Manager, Senior Manager/General Manager, and Finance Director. The hypothesis testing procedure has been carried out via Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA).The results of the study show that: (1) emotional intelligence positively influence carrier development of accountants, and (2) Self-confidence positively strengthen (moderates) the influence of emotional intelligence on carrier development of accountants. These findings are very important for the organizations in particular human resource management practices relating to career development of accountants which are tailored to the potentiality, talent, and ability.
